It’s great to be back and we are so pleased to see everyone getting stuck in and picking up from where they left off in the summer term.
The Music Centre is up and running with our regular members returning to our Saturday morning groups and lots of new starters eager to learn and have fun at the centre. Not only have we had many beginners getting to grips with violins, trumpets, flutes and others, we have also had new starters who are already strong on their instruments and who have joined our senior bands for more ensemble experience. Almost 400 young people are now accessing our free ensembles.
Many of the young musicians have moved up into more advanced groups and it’s great to see so many of them work hard, practise and work up the ensembles as they increase in skills and confidence.
The Music Hub has also been busy kicking off the new academic year with lots of training opportunities for teachers and tutors. As well as our regular Network meetings for school teachers, we have also organised a practical tutors’ training day which included a workshop from one of the members of STOMP, the global theatrical music troupe, and training for KS4 music teachers in order to support GCSE and BTEC Music.
We also getting ready for some exciting events coming up, including North Tyneside’s Got Talent 2018, and our Charity Concert, we are even already getting into the Christmassy mood as we are preparing for our end of term Christmas Concerts, Christmas Markets and Festive services.
