On Wednesday 20th November North Tyneside Music Hub were proud to support the North Tyneside Disability Forum at its annual Charity Concert at the Playhouse, Whitley Bay. This year’s concert included fantastic choir performances from New York Primary, Amberley Primary, Whitehouse Primary, Westmoor Primary, Bailey Green Primary, Whitley Lodge First School and our Saturday Music Centre group, North Tyneside Training Band. There was also a special performance from student Katie Rushworth who wowed the audience with her eclectic style playing on multiple instruments and including the use of music technology. We were extremely happy to have the Youth Training Band with us to showcase the wonderful opportunities our Saturday Music Centre provides.
All our schools performed superbly and treated the audience to music such as Make You Feel My Love, True Colours, Keep Singing, Eye of the Tiger and more. Our Training Band also delighted audiences with their renditions of familiar tunes such as Rock around the Clock and Livin’ La Vida Loca.
The Charity Concert was a huge success, raising lots of money and allowing us at NTMEH to present a cheque for £1000 to Sue Adams, Chief Officer of North Tyneside Disability Forum, on behalf of NTDF she spoke of how very grateful she was to receive the donation and shared how the money would help give disabled children and young people the same opportunities that our school children had just received that night.
Thank you to all the young performers, the school staff that support them and give up their free time outside of school hours, and the Music Hub staff for organising and supporting the concert. Our thanks also to Whitley Bay Playhouse for being a fantastic venue.
