On Wednesday 21st November, North Tyneside Music Hub once again held its annual Charity Concert at the Playhouse, Whitley Bay. This year’s concert was different however as we joined forces with North Shields Rotary Club to raise money for our Saturday Music Centre. The evening started with the Music Centre’s very own Concert Wind Band performing a collection of well-known music themes from films and songs from famous musicians. We were extremely happy to have the Concert Wind Band with us to showcase the wonderful opportunities our Saturday Music Centre provides.
The second half of the concert was all about celebrating the music taking place in our schools. We had fantastic performances from Amberley Primary School Choir, New York Primary School Choir, Whitley Lodge First School Choir, Westmoor Primary School Choir and Whitehouse Primary class choir. To finish the night off on a high, we had Whitley Bay High School’s Jazz Band playing some exciting tunes from Jazz standards to a student’s composition, which everyone enjoyed clapping along with.
The Charity Concert was a huge success, raising lots of money and allowing North Shields Rotary Club to present a cheque for £1000 to Alex Lewis, the Music Centre Lead on behalf of the Saturday Music Centre.
Thank you to all the young performers, the school staff that support them and give up their free time outside of school hours, the Music Hub staff and the Rotary Club members for organising and supporting the concert and thanks to Whitley Bay Playhouse for being a fantastic venue.
